I just registered my husband for this site (he is out fishing the Dragon Run Creek in Gloucester, VA while I do this). Anyway we want to come to the RGV this winter and am looking for a RV park that he can drive to a fishing spot close to it (5 to 10 minutes away). But I also want a park that has activities for me while he is fishing. Would prefer to be in the Brownsville to maybe Weslaco area. Cannot find much information about lakes etc with public access in this area. He knows about fishing in the Arroyo (Sp?)Colorado river but we don't want to be in a park out there not enough to do. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
B King

He has a 12 foot portabote with a gas engine and also an electric motor.

I usually try to help anyone I can on this forum, but this one has me stumped. Try posting in a different forum, maybe a report forum for his species of fish. Or salt water forum, good luck!

Fun-n-Sun Rv resort. It's between Harlingen and San Benito. There is a resaca right behind it. And only about 15-30min. away from Arroyo City and 30-1hr from South Padre. Another one is Dixieland Mobile home and RV Park. (I think they have an activity center. I do know they have shuffle board) Anyways, Dixieland Mobile home and RV park is in Harlingen on Dixieland Rd. There is Dixieland Reservoir/Park/Disk golf about 2-5min. away (maybe even less than that) Much better fishing than the resaca behind fun-n-sun.

P.S. Neat thing about Dixieland RV park is that Target, Walmart, the Mall, Mr. Gatti's, Olive Garden, Chili's, Applebees, McDonalds(pretty much a little of everything) is within I would say a 1-5mi. radius.

And if you do decide to stay at any one of those RV resort/park, make sure you stop and greet the friendly people at Hook Line and Sinker.(956)428-6473. They will give you any advice and/or tips about fishing (or if you just want to have a friendly conversation). It's a nice little store where you can shop for fishing tackle and accessories. And before I forget, at The Dixieland reservoir, don't use any expensive lures. The city just dumped huge boulders along one side so you can get snagged easily.
