Honestly,

I haven't fished the Lower Laguna since Aug 27th.. but..

Due to the heavy rains that we experienced this year I am under the impression that with the decrease in salinity level the fish were forced out of their natural habitats in the Laguna.

Not to mention the poor spawning season that went on this spring, which is why the TPWD had to decrease the bag limit from 10 to 5 for the lower coast.

So basically what little trout there were, became virtually nonexistant with the fresh water influx from heavy rains.

I do expect next spring to great fishing tho.. Certainly better than it was this year.

Wooo!

That's odd, these past 3 months, all I have been catching is Speckled trout. Haven't caught anything else except for 2 reds and 1 flounder. Smallet one was 10 in. largest was 18in. They have all been with that range in Arroyo City. (got to know where to find them. Do not fish at the piers. Never had any luck for speckled trout there). I usually use live bait however the bait stand was out so I used frozen and caught 13 specs. It surprised the heck out of me that they bit on frozen.

Late Response-

He just asked why many people are not catching them like they used to. I just told him what I knew from observations and reports issued by the TPWD on the Lower Laguna requarding the 2007 spawning season.
