I believe, and I may be wrong, that in the last few years, the electricity generated has since been licensed by another city, and is now "sold" to that city. I want to say Garland, but I'm not sure.

FortWorthBret has all the info.

Bret, you wanna chime in?

I was there when the workers came by to check up on the generator one time and was told that Garland runs it. They were actually pretty cool and a guy got them to turn the generator off for 20 minutes so we could get a little fishing in without all the current smile

Garland, that's who I thought it was who currently buys the electricity from Llela. Very cool of the workers to turn it off for a little while! I've seen them get people's lures out of the fence up there before lol.

That hydro-electric generator was sold to the City of Garland (GP\L)a few years ago. And while one can say that no water is released strictly for generation.....

There is a requirement to keep waters in rivers flowing (as in they can't be shut off completely for long periods like a creek can) there are many hours of the day when the only water released is through the generator. As a matter of fact, until the lake got high this summer, there were many hours a week that the only water released was through the generator (at about 300 cfh).

Hello Everyone:
I went to Llela today with my son who is 9. We got there around 8am and caught fish up until 1:30pm when they slowed down. We caught 1 keeper Cat(Blue) and numerous Sand Bass and baby Large Mouth Bass biggest LMB was close to 1LB. We could have brought home 15 to 20 Sand Bass if we had wanted to but through them all back. Met some gentleman who was fishing for Carp he had caught 15 before we had left his biggest was 26 inches he had said. My son had me busy as I was untangling his line wrapped up or unhooking the Numerous Fish we were catching. My son caught A 10 inch Sandie on his first cast. I can remember when it was a slight drizzle he had caught 6 fish in a row. So needless to say I didn't get much fishing in I was Busy.... My son had a blast with all the fish he caught today. We released everything but the Cat with no Losses. We did try for Carp but I dont have enough experience in them yet. No luck on the Carp for us though.

Yes Adam, you need a fishing license to fish there, you need a fishing license to fish in the state of Texas, period, with the exception of state parks on certain days I believe.

Godzilla, glad to hear you had such a good day out there!

Was the other guy catching carp ( Bronze ) or buffalo? ( Grey/blue )

Nearly stepped on a 10# carp today! He never cared about me, just kinda moved out of the way. it was much slower on the sandies this week due to the drop in water level(4')
actually didn't get there until 9:30, waded my [censored] off till I found some sandies. lost 3 humdingers to catch 2 mag's. started
raining harder around 11:30, so I split before I lost all my 'dingers.
I'll be back tomorrow afternoon around 4pm
tight lines

you can fish without a license in any state park in the state of texas as long as you paid a fee to get in...but it HAS to be a state park.

I don't really know what to type here.

And it has to be from the bank. Then again, this *is* bank fishing.

Went this morning and got there at 7:20; place was packed and had to walk a little further than usual to find any kind of breathing room. Caught 7 or 8 13-14" hybrids, a nice 14" sandie, and a bunch of little dinky 6-8" sandies. Walked down the river pretty far and saw the water start blowing up every 15 minutes, unfortunately, it was about 20 yards further than I could cast. They started moving the shad further down the river but it was too muddy for me to follow. Never seen them blowing up on top like that before, hopefully when I go again, they will be a little closer next time smile

They do that down here, between 635 and 183, all up and down the river, but usually it's earlier in the summer and late spring.
