how do you feel about using the steel leaders on a topwater bait or carolina rig, etc? any response is very much appreciated. would you use a steel leader on your baits? flag

Only when I'm fishing up in Bemidji. Those Northern's, Muskie and Walleye can really shread a line.

i just want to know would you use a bait that came with a steel leader tied to a hook, but the steel leader is not tied to your line it's tied to something else! flag

Several years ago I had the need for a steel leader when I was fishing on a pond that had hybred fish. They were a mixture of a pure strain Florida Bass and a pure strain Tiger shark. We called them BARKS. There were very many of the Barks in the pond and even schooled during the summer. We called that BARKing. You could get quite a few barks when there was a lot of Barks Barking. Other that that, I have not had any use for steel leaders.

I use piano wire when I Carp fish. A 4 oz. pyramid sinker tied on the end of a piano wire leader will cut them suckers right in half.

Our club is fishing Hawkins this month and it has chain pickeral in it. Should I go with leaders? Dont mean to highjack your post jwest.

Sounds like their bark was worse than their bite.
