All of them? There is a fine line between a fetish and an obsession. There is also a fine line between fishing and just standing in the boat looking like an idiot.

Kidding..... I leave my camera at home, I just prefer a more challenging to catch fish. I like to catch fish period. I guess if there were no bass in the lake then I would be a Sand Bass catching fool! Oh by the way..... I hope your not taking my comments to seriously. Nice boat.... but mine's faster grin

Note that post was made by a guy with a picture of him with a fish on it and him standing in a boat looking like....dang that one was too easy. smile Hey weren't we talking about Lewisville anyway? The sandbass schooling at Lewisville is awsome--wish Benbrook would get like that--is 380 per person?!?! Or a group?

I hate getting left out soooo...
I've fished with Michael T and know him well enough to know he's just kidding. Maybe a bigger smiley face next time Michael. wink
I've been on LL on days when we QUIT counting at 300. So it's a matter of finding them on the right day and knowing where to start your search.
Don the Angler taught me to catch Sandbass. The reason I suggested he plugged in his clicker is because sometimes he just can't click it fast enough manually.
If he tells you it's raining fish, you better get a bigger umbrella. smile
Papa Peck is one of my best crappie partner, so enough said there.
As far a Big Dad...probably the best sandy/hybrid non guide out there.
All those guys just wail on the sandies. As far as me...well I'm feeling modest today.

I'm with you on that one. It gets kinda boring just hauling in one sandy after another. Those big hybrids take a little more time and patience to get the bigger ones in the boat. It definetly is a each his own thing.

Glad someone feels like I do--sandbass are really fun for about the first 30 then I want something that will give me a fight. I cant see what people get out of catching 300 or even 100 of them but to each his own.

I think it is the thrill of catching one after another. We are probably all lucky in that most of us here have a boat and fish a lot. I usually move on if I mark fish, drop a bait and catch 3 or 4 sandies, but if I've got the kids with me or someone that doesn't get to do much fishing I will sit there and reel them up one after another right on with them. AND THEN....there are those days I couldn't find a hybrid, in a hybrid aquarium, while they are feeding the hybrid.... and I will actually go look for sandies just to make me feel better.

Way to catch 'em Don!!!! I agree with the clickers being pieces of dung. Now you see why I don't post results anymore.

Loose, I hope yours is faster, I just got tired of throwing money and time at the Mercury. 93.6 on the gps was the top speed with the 225 Pro Max.
Yours is a lot easier/ roomier to fish out of too.

I don't think any of us here would disagree on the sandy/hybrid trade off.

Those hybrids are some mean bruisers and there is little that compares to the thrill of having one of those bad boys at full bore on the business end of your rod! I have caught stripers, northerns, sandies, even huge gar, smallies, and huge blacks, and ounce for ounce, the only thing that compares, as far as fish of comparable size and strength, might be a bull red at full throttle in the surf! I still vividly remember one bull red in particular, at City Beach in Corpus Christi, that, as the line sung off the rod, just before it snapped with gunshot crispness, how worn out i was, as the line, the hook, the weight, the shrimp i was using for bait, and that massive red, were all heading towards the general direction of the open Gulf, and Cuba, more or less!

Comparable situation was a TRIPLE hookup of big hybrids, involving DTA, his son Dale, and myself on LL. We managed to boat ONE of the three, with one snapping a line and one throwing a slab with the force of a Roger Clemens Fastball!

Exhilirating, to say the least!

Rudy

Thing is if you are fishing so you can brag about catching 300 or so sandbass you probably wont catch many hybrids--thats why I think it is somewhat of a tradeoff. Reds out fight hybrids by quite a bit--even small reds(20in) are tough but hybrids come in there 2nd and are a blast to catch as well. Think I'll head out to LL Sat for a bit.
