f4f,
The flounder will start running after the first good cold front, probably in late October or November, but you can still catch them before that. Try live shrimp and mud minnows on the bottom, rigged with a barrel sinker. Slowly pull this around until you feel a thump. Wait about 10 seconds (this is the hard part) and reel in your slack and set the hook if you feel weight. You'll get one this fall, no problem. Good luck!

You have to go far south, South Padre Island/Port Isabel. I've never heard of people catching much north of there.

I'm originally from West Palm Beach Florida and I miss going after Snook. To me, and I've fished for just about everything you could imagine both fresh & salt water, Snook fishing is by far the most challenging and fun fish to catch.

Excellent, all white meat. They do vary in taste though depending on the water they are caught in. They can be found along the saltwater beaches and they will also travel into very brackish water. The ones caught in 100% Atlantic saltwater are the best tasting.

Snook are definitely in Texas. This spring, I got into snook at the South Jetty at Port A. I caught at least 15 in the 12-16 inch category using live shrimp, under a popping cork, close to the rocks.

I would add a UBBCode but donโ€™t know what that is.

A mud minnow is a big (3 inchish) guppy like minnow that lives mostly in brackish water. They are tough as nails, hard to kill. And flounder love them. They are also very expensive baits for their size. The best way to catch them yourself is to drag a seine in ditches on the side of the road. If you walk up to the ditch and see a lot of movement in the water their are probably mud minnows in that ditch.
