Owner hooks is all that i have ever used for my soft plastics,i love them, some will tell you not to use them with braid because they have a small opening at the top of the hook at the eyelet.I have never had a problem with them.

Owners are the only hooks I use for texas and carolina rigs...weightless i like matzuo's....the owners though are an awesome hook..they have excellent penetration, cant hardly straighten them out, and they stay sharper longer..give them a try they're def. worth it

I buy my Owners at BPS. They are the only brand I use.

Owner hooks are in Walmarts, Academy's, BPS. Pretty much everywhere here. I'm surprised you can't find them. I'd have to move if I couldn't get Owners. That's all I use 99% of the time.

Stan mentioned it, the eyelet isn't bent flush to the shank.
There's a small gap & braid can slide through.

Took me two missed fished to figure it out.
Hard hookset & it came off right away. After looking closely, the knot was still intact. Second time, had the fish on for a while & same thing. Had even re-tied and put on a new hook.

Gamakatsu only since then. I still haven't kicked the habit of checking out the eyelet before I tie on a hook.

RR,

I agree, lost a good fish and got my knot back. Also lost one about 10 last year at the boat on an Owner J hook. Hook point slopes down toward the eye, gives poor hook penetration. (basically tex-poses on its own) Had 5 package of J hooks in the boat, had 5 packages of J hooks in the trash can when I got home.

Gam Super Line hooks since then and no problems with poor hook penetration

I buy Owner as first choice. If I can't find what I want on Owner I look at Gamaktsu. They are the only 2 types of hooks I buy anymore. (I can't say they are the only hooks I use. I am still using hooks I bought 30 years ago. Can't seem to lose them fast enough. smile )

Wal-Mart, BPS, Cabela's, Academy, Sportsman's Warehouse, Sports Authority and, I think, Oshman's will all have them. Most bait & tackle shops will also have a limited selection of them.
