Grapevine is only 3 feet over normal pool. The Cliffs should be fishable. Has anyone been out there?

If it is fishable I'm bringing some equipment back from the trailer Sunday.

Yeah, but fishable, and not road-blocked may be two different things lol. The big question is, have the moved the barriers?

Also, do you want to fish directly in all that brush that's grown up in the cliffs and is under water right now?

Bret and I fished out there when the water was high, but not much over normal pool, and it was hell getting snagged on all the little trees and stuff.

Road is still closed at the turn to Little Pete's. I was told by the guys @ Twin Coves that it should be open in about a week.

I don't know if anyone else remembers it but the area of the cliffs was originally a bird sanctuary during the winter months. They always kept that gate shut during the winter. When I still had my slip at Twin Coves I was told they were going to start it again after the new campground construction was complete. Jeff should ask around at Twin Coves and see what he could find out. Maybe if a little stink was made about it they would leave it as is. I doubt if we could compete with the area bird watchers but you never know.

Hey Kevin

Heard today that once the lake gets back to a full pool that it will be 2 weeks before they open the park (heard this from a more reliable source @ Twin Coves)

Hopefully they won't jack up the entrance fee too bad on us to cover the costs of the cabins & fishing piers that are going up out there. I think that the money generated by what the Core is doing out there will outweigh the wants of the bird-watchers.

Shoot me a PM if you get an itch for the 'vine that you have to scratch & we'll try it at my slip

I haven't heard anything about cabins..

On their conceptual drawing for the park they do show 'screened shelters'.. Soo.. mmm I guess that could mean cabins..

My bad on calling them cabins. They are going to be screened shelters.

I heard lots of rumors as to what will actually happen.

Check out the attached link to the Core site & click near the bottom where it says conceptual map. It looks like it will be pretty cool.

The plans for the screened shelters seem to be pretty close to the cliffs.

You know what irks me..

Why exactly would the Corps invest in screened shelters in the first place? Can you just imagine the maintenance involved with keeping the screens in useable condition?

I guess you could charge the occupants for damage done but lets be serious, do they plan to drive out there and inspect each shelter after use?

What I think will happen is we will have these nice wooden or cinder block shelters with missing or damaged screens.. Trashy.. and IMO completely unnessary.
