Fished the big jetties on Sunday afternoon and had a limit of bull reds in about 1 hour using frozen sardines. Tagged these and I am ready to go back. Horseshoe Dozer

I didn't have a scale. I will on the next trip though especially since the next trip will have to be all catch and release (of course with pics).

I have found the exact opposite to be true--the larger reds are more "fiberous" kinda like the texture of chicken when fried--actually tastes kind of like chicken. Most people dont like it--I like it quite a bit as long as you get all the red meat out.

I like to make a fish gumbo out of the big bull reds (don't even have to remove the red meat this way) and I like to fry the slot reds. Ummmmmm ummmmmmm gooooood.

fillet the slot reds, leave the skin/scales on, throw on the grill (charcoal) and just let it cook. THAT is the best way to eat slot red.

Hi guys, I am new to saltwater and I was wondering what is this "big jetties", to be precise, where is it? Are those a specific or the well known jetties we can go fishing from the shore? Thanks, and good luck, Peter.

the big jetties is out in the bay and the surf, north east of the pass. the little jetties are the one off the beach, in port o connor. the little jetties aswell as the front beach has been good this summer
fishing from the the actual jetty? ive never seen any one im sure ppl have but you need a boat to get out the. go to google earth or google satellite map of the area and you can check out the big jetties
im heading down to POC on saturday, im probily flyfish boggy because i dont have a boat. hope that helped tight lines

vhs07.....FYI, when I was returning from the big jetties last week Sunday there must have been 15 people wade fishing the mouth of Boggy. They all had stringers out w/ fish. I used the binoculars to check them out before I went my way. I have never even tried the beach front at POC or the little jetties. What works best?

It was around 3 PM. When will the flounder start showing up in Boggy?

coarse meat best smoked on a grill with liquid smoke skin still on. just about the same as anything the younger one's are better. it is better to remove the red meat.
