Red and black Senko. My favorite bait on Lake Austin.

nice bass

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Yep...its at the marina next to Ski Shores. You are right about the wake boarders though. I sneek out for an hour or so earlier then they get up or in the evening when they are wearing down.

ill nevr forget the first time i got to fish lake austin after my daughter was born. it had been 3 months since i had seen the water. i stayed up late the night before cleaning my reels, sharpening hooks, and organizing my tackle. we got out to the ramp and there was a line 8 deep of nothing but ski boats. we should have turned around right then. the only thing that made it fun is that my buddy's boat looks like a police boat. you could tell they were nervous any time we came around.

Usually the fishermen have until 8 or so before it begins to get busy. During the week, its not too bad as traffic is somewhat light. I try to avoid weekends, especially after 8. It is not uncommon to see the early, early staggler around 7. They are also looking for the glass type water conditions. Thats when I sometimes wish I had a PT boat!
