Ya'll are all gonna be at Amistad fishing the tournament. So, prior to leaving tell everything, I mean, everything about Brady, Where (GPS if possible), what and what make model and colors. That's all we'll need. Tooter (oldest Grandson) and I are off for the Heart 'O Texas tomorrow. PLEASE!

White spinnerbaits with # 5 Indiana blades. Fish the South bank in the flooded salt cedars. One foot of water is not too shallow up there. As you leave the ramp and head out into the lake parallel with the dam. You will turn left around the cattails on the point. Continue to go West on down the lake. You will see a long point come way out into the lake on the left hand side. You can't hardly see it from the water, but there is an old house with a lot of trash laying around everywhere back in the trees. Turn South (left) into this back kinda cove part of the lake. On that right hand bank in the back is where I would start. Lots of flooded stick ups and salt cedars in about 3 to 5 feet of water there. I have caught many a 7 and 8 pounder back there. Continue around the back of that cove toward the East now. Fish the brush line that will be very obvious along the East side of that cove. Be sure and throw at least 10 to 15 feet into the brush. The fish will actually be sitting either right on the brush line or 4 to 5 feet into it. If you see a rocky bank or rocky point (mostly prodominant on the North banks), throw a white crankbait or the spinnerbait there. A white fluke is also good there on a 1/16 ounce pegged weight or weightless.
Okay....here is one big secret for all the TFF to know. All these huge fish being weighed in are turned loose at one place and one place only. THE RAMP! Straight across from the ramp is one of the best fishing places on the lake. There is an excellent brush line out there and the channel from the ramp goes directly to that bank. Guess where all those fish that are turned loose go to and rest? Throw a junebug 8" worm up there on a 1/4 or 3/16 ounce weight. Better have on some 20 pound or better line. I've had 30 pound Big Game snapped like sewing thread in there.
Hope someone else chimes in here and helps you out some. Good luck there Mark!

Mark, For Bass - exactly what the Hag said, with emphasis on small flukes way back in the stickups, all the way out to the point. And, try the North corner of the dam, out to the new boat ramp. Hump, dropoff, stickups, or something seems to hold bass there.
For bluegills, small bass, just fun time with the grandson - start at the boat ramp (old one) and go South. Fish the South side. Lots of boat houses, brushpiles, bluffs, rocks, ledges - and a very pretty place to spend the day.
Wish I were there!!

Ha, Ha.....I was keeping that North corner of the dam a secret! Can't give away everything. Did they finish the new ramp? I have been asked by some of the guys going down there in club tournaments. There will be way too many people to put in at the marina. Please post on here if it is open. That way the clubs going can split up and put in over there. I thought it was open, but didn't want to give out info that I did not have first hand knowledge of.

The new ramp was open last summer. Put in there in June, but haven't been back since. Decent ramp, pretty good parking under the trees if you get there early.

I just got back from Brady,Well the bite is tough but what a bite,Me and a buddy fished from 9:30am to 1:30pm he missed a couple of fish and had one that went 5.50lbs.I missed two because I was running my mouth and not paying attention, then I caught two little dinks and at 11:45am oops a 10.11lbs. found her way on my little spinnerbug. She had to be on a bed because her tail was dripping blood, the spinnerbait I was using was a 1/4oz leverage in char/white with 1 small willow and 1 colorado blade. As far as whites or crappie I did'nt speak to any one that caught much of anything. It's slow in between bites but I think it's worth the trip. On a disappointing note the big female went for a drive to Big Ole Brownwood she won't be spawning in Brady bot in a private lake where she can roam free from big bass hunters, her measurements were 25 3/8" long and 20" girth.

Similar results there today. The bites were few and far between, but of the bites we got, they were nice quality fish (thanks for the inside info Hag!) Missed a few fish that were short striking. It was really windy today too. We were the ones in the white/charcoal Triton TR20. Checked out the ramp on the far side of the dam & it is fine. Our club will be fishing 29 & 30. We will probably end up using the other ramp as there is a bass federation on brady on the 29th so parking will definitely be at a premium. The guy at the marina said he has had problems with tournament folks parking in his camping areas before, so please keep this in mind and be considerate when parking your trucks.

You're welcome FishGod. That is why I always say to use a good long trailer hook on Brady. The bass seem to just jump out of the salt cedars so fast that they sometimes miss the spinnerbait. A good slender split tail trailer, either the white with red tips or my favorite, the white with chartruese tips will help you also. Sorry that I forgot to mention the trailer. So many things that we just do out of habit and forget to mention.

The ones that I missed were with a trailer hook. Was thinking of turning the hook facing down, but that is tough to do in heavy cover without hanging up. Was already using one of the white dual tail trailers too...great minds think alike

Brady: Post trip de brief. THANKS for all ya'lls help. We did as HAG and Gone said. We must thrown those spinners about a zillion times and pitched 'June Bug' 7"ers till the world looked level. ZIPPITY DO DAH! But I was with Grandson, on the water, it is Spring and beautiful on a new lake. WE HAD A GREAT TIME.
In the sticks up across from the ramp finally broke down and started trying a Storm Shallow Wobbler. Got two little guys. One these days we are gonna be the boat that has a big 'un in the live well.
Still need more traininng.
