I fished with JW a year and half ago in October. It was a bluebird day with a glass top. He put us on fish and we boated 35 for the day. He was a great teacher and worked well with both my partner and me. If Danny works for JW and Jim, then he has to be a good guy. JW is extremely concerned about his customers and their needs. One thing I would do is to talked to Danny before hand and explain to him what you want and expect. This can help set up a great day on the water. Good luck. wink

If people focused on important issues, there would be a shortage of fishing poles.

My Dad and I fished with Danny (Holder is his last name) a couple of years ago.

We had been on Fork by ourselves a few times before and had limited success at best. We were going to be staying on the lake for a full week and wanted the trip to be successful. We bought a trip with J&J Guide Service and was set to go with Danny on the second day of our week long stay.

We met with Danny at their lodge and rode with him to the ramp. It was there that we discovered the weather had really turned bad from the 1st day of our trip. It was windy.
Danny asked us if we would like to reschedule. But since my work schedule doesn't really warrant that, we went ahead even though it was windy.

Danny gave us a safe ride to a couple of out of the wind areas that, low and behold, held fish.
He taught us a couple of new to me tricks (the weightless fluke and the wacky rig) which have become permanent parts of my arsenal. He was very good at teaching just enough so that you could catch fish and learn something without being overbearing.

I get the impression that he really won't fish in front of you unless you're missing something. As we did on one occassion. He kept telling us that there was a fish next to this fallen tree. We kept either not throwing at it or missing the target. Danny put his bait in the right spot and pulled out the biggest fish of the trip.

Anyways, he's a good, down to earth guy and a good fisherman. If you pay attention, you might even learn something. laugh

He'll also tell you some things about the lake and the pattern that you're on and places to try while you're there. Even if you're not going to be trying those things on your trip.

I can't say enough good things about J&J Guide Service and Danny Holder.

It made our whole trip.

Hope this helps and hope you have a great trip.
-Jeff

Thanks for all your comments.I was pretty sure I was in good hands from reading about the service on the their web-site. This is the real story....My wife arranged this trip all by her little self. I told her last month how I would love to hire a guide and then follow it up with a couple of days of fishing out of my own boat. You already know what I got for my birthday . Me and a fishing buddy are ready to go, we arranged our lodging yesterday. 3 full days of nothing but fishing for a Lake Fork monster.

Be sure to tell Danny that you're going to be staying on the lake for a few days after your guided trip. He'll probably be more than willing to give you some tips on where to fish for the remainder of your trip.

Good Luck!!
