I saw some rods at the Houston fishinf tackle show last year and the guides were "unbreakable". You could push down on them and they would lay flat to the rod then spring back up when you take your finger off of it. They were metal guides with no insert. Anybody know what I am talking about?

They are titanium guides. I have seen them on one model of G.Loomis i go believe. I also think Fuji makes them, and they can be ordered for custom rod makers.

www.barlowstackle.comI dont see that one on the website, but you may call them and see if its something that they have but not on the website. Their catalog is a lot better than the online store.

The ones I have seen are made by REC... they are titanium and they are used on the GLX now I believe and also the Cabelas XMLTI rods... Click Me I know that when you use Fluorocarbon line and these guides you can sometimes actually hear the fish hit your bait if it is a hard tap... the Fuoro makes a distinctive sounds when it brushes against the guides. They can break however as I bought one of the cabelas rods in the bargain bin with the guide broken. You can order them at the link above. Regards

That's them. Recoil guides. Was planning on having a spiral wrap rod built and wanted to try out these recoil guides. Anybody else know where I can purchase these guides from?
