Had a good time and found quite a few fish from 1-7pm today. Between two of us, we caught 14 LMB mostly dinks, but one went about 1.5 lbs. Found quite a few in a large mass of trees in about 7ft of water. Using rattletraps, they couldn't resist them.
As for whites, we found them everywhere but most of them were in the 6-10" range. Caught a few potential keeps, but liked the action more than the fish today. We ended up with over 70 for the day and caught tons of dinks at the bubbles. Was fun stuff. Best part was my new Humdingers were delivered as I was leaving and I used my 3/8oz chartreuse / white to catch 30+ fish. The Kastmaster with buck tail still outfished the Humdinger but they were dinks.
Another 1st for me, was the cove full of gar. We found one cove near Dove Loop road that had 50+ gar popping the top. Was fun to watch, but didn't do anything for the fishing. Moved along and then found more fish.

Doing Joe Pool tomorrow AM, so will post more tomorrow.

Later,
Adam

Yes, launched from Katy Woods and had plenty of space to park. I think if you go during the week you have more room to park vs. the weekend, but I might have just go lucky!

Alakabama. there's parking if get there early but later be prepared to walk a ways. As for the surfacing gar try droppin a slab below them you just might be surprised. Last 2 trips we have caught limits of 14 to 16 inchers on the humps and under those gar.

Mc Pherson Slough had an open ramp Sun. nite the gate was open and from what we could see from the water a couple people were using it. Thank god because that ramp over by the marina is a joke, we had an early engine problem and watched those people retrieve and launch without any regard for each other. Some were plain drunk, plain and simple, we talked to them and watched them. When we finally got the motor problem fixed, we headed over to the slough area where we caught a lot of lmb's mostly dinks and some sandies. We sat and floated in the slough ramp area until after dark with our lights on watching another fool pulling a tuber in the dark! I'm not talking sunset, I'm talking dark. I hope the patrol gets a handle on this soon.

Beware of smiling sharks.

They should start opening some of the other ramps soon. The parking lot is almost dry at Katies Woods, but the parking will be a problem until some other ramps are available.

I'm just waiting for the parking at Katie Woods being closed again after the water resides due to the pavement coming up from being under water for so long. Then right back to having a crazy boat ramp frown
