I'm wanting to get a new bay/flats boat. I've looked at the Explorer 21TV and have seen pictures of a JH Performance 21 footer. Can anyone give me GOODS and BADS on these boats? Also any other boats to consider in the 21 foot range.
I'll also be selling my 2003 22 Bay Skeeter that's in showroom condition. Any ideas on what to ask for it?
Thanks

Not sure of the goods and bad of the boats listed above. But if you were looking for a serious flats boat, then its hard to go wrong with a shallow sport. They only make around 200 boats a years, but they can maneuver super skinny water and they make a killer wade fishing boat. Not sure of your price range you had in mind, but you might want to take a look. I believe they make a 18, 20, 21, and a 21V. Their website is shallowsportboats.com. Good luck selling the skeeter. The size of the motor would help dictate a ballpark price range. Best of luck.

I believe JH has gone away, unless someone picked it back up recently.

You're going to get killed on an '03, sorry for the news.

There's a bazillion boats that fit the same hull configuration as the explorer and JH, Majek, Transport, Shoalwater, all make very similar hulls, so do your homework, ask for references, and take them to the water, good hunting.

I have a shallow sport and love it. Have not seen a whole lot of boats that will run where it will. when they say 3-4", it is no b.s.. I normally just wade fish and to not really need the 4" capabilitys but it is a well built boat plus resale value second to none. Buddy has a 23 Explorer TV and that is a smoother hull but not as shallow but it will do all you need. I would also take a look at Mosca boats. I have read nothing but good things about them. Think they are based in Aransas Pass or Corpus.

My Triton 22LTS center console is considered a bay boat in north texas yet on the coast it's a little too much hull. However, tomorrow I pick it up after having a JackPlate installed. So it will be much skinnier (I hope 8-10 inches on a plane). My 225 honda was bottoming out in 12 in. If you looking for just bay fishing this may not the boat. However, If you want a boat that goes in 90+% of the bays AND fishes 20-30 miles out, fishes stripers at texoma, hybrids at Tawakoni, bass at Travis. I highly recommend the Triton due to it's versatility.

I am sucker for Kenner Tunnels.. but have you checked out Pathfinder boats, Majek Extreme, Haynie Bigfoot? Nice setups there!

Do you want a BAY boat, Shallow Water Bay, or Multi-purpose Bay boat which covers most of the bay but can head offshore too.

Now if you get a tunnel hull remember you it will not get the best MPG as a solid hull nor will it's top end be the same all things equal.
