Forgetting to clean your brother's reel.
It's a Shakespeare Catera Round Baitcast. It casts but won't reel in. Good thing shakespeare isn't too expensive.

That's alright, it's a Shakespeare You did him a favor and hopefully he will buy a better reel such as Daiwa or Shimano.

The only thing worse would be to have forgotten the fish you had placed into the cooler in the trunk of your car without ice last week because you were concerned about the reel.

Closing the door on the upright freezer in your garage full of venison, duck, and fish and not noticing that the door didn't close all the way. Then discovering it 5 days later when you are looking for the source of the foul smell in your garage.
Way worse. I promise.

Way worse. I promise. That fishinbg reel is very minor under those circumstances. LOL

Man oh man was that freezer NASTY!! I duct taped it completely shut and hauled it to the landfill. They told me they could not take it if it still had freon in it. I said "no problemo" and used a par of diagonal clippers to cut through the coils. I let them watch as all the freon vented. Then I put the thing in the "white appliances" section of the landfill. I am absolutely sure some trash man was cursing me when they opened that thing up.

OK. It could be worse I guess. My brother isn't too upset though. I get more use out of his reels than he does anyways.
