Get one of those baskets that has a lid that will flip down when you put a fish in and float closed afterwards.

Thanks guys for the reply....the reason I was asking was because I'd formally been using just a net used to hold basketballs, and the fins from the fish would on occasion prick my tube, and thus create a tiny tiny tiny hole. On my last trip out....my tube suffered 5 punctures just from the dorsal fin of the crappie that we'd caught hitting up against the tube, and putting a prick in the tube. Once again thanks for the advice...I hope that the basket will prevent the punctures.

I personally use a styrofoam donut with a mesh bag that cinches up at the top. I got it at Academy and I've never had any problems with it. I have put crappie and catfish in it with no damage to my tube. It has a long rope tied to it so it can float a few feet away from your tube.

Get one of those baskets that has a lid that will flip down when you put a fish in and float closed afterwards. Be aware that a crappie will rub his tail on the wire baskets. If you have a fish that is right @ 10" it won't take him long to rub his tail off and become an illegal fish. Seen a guy @ Joe Pool several years ago get ticketed by the Game warden for several fish that were legal when caught but illegal after sitting in the basket. Threw mine away after that.
Keep on fishing.

Be aware that a crappie will rub his tail on the wire baskets. Well, there goes another one of my brilliant ideas. Thanks for the warning, DBman. You may have saved me a ticket.
