Ok , now I'm looking for a good vhf marine radio. I've seen the ones in Cabelas but I don't know enough about them too make a choice. Does anybody have any advice on this subject.

Get the mounted radio = 25 watts and not the hand held = 5 watts. Get a long antenna = comunications is line of sight, so when you get in coves you get limited. The scan feature is great to have but not required.
My opinion is that they are basically all the same. I have run a Uniden Oceanus for 4 years with no problems.
