I will be in the market for a new boat in the coming months and I am trying to do my research. Anyone have the pros and cons on Charger Boats? I like their design but not sure on pricing, ride, and overall fit and finish. I would like to find a dealer around DFW and if anyone has any suggestions or comments I would appreciate the input. Thanks.

i heard they ride good, but i would stick with one of the major brands of boats, because of dealer support.

to me, it looks like they would be bad at spearing waves.

I had a 92 model last year ride was good in rough water, think it was because it was so heavy.. I now own a ranger and wouldnt veer from it...

If you will look at the older Champion hulls, the old Skeeter Wranglers & the Chargers, they look so much alike, it is scary!!! I've owned a Skeeter Wrangler & a Champion, they both are good old hulls & fast too! The ride is not too shabby either! I cannot say that I would be afraid of a new Charger if they still are in business!

They are still in business. And check out their specs. They are lighter than some comparable brands. I've had a few friends that owned them, and they had good luck with them. One that I looked had a transom that was 4" thick. That ought to be good for about 300 hp.

They are by far NOT bad at spearing waves. They cut right though them. They are a very fast hull. I have one but as stated before since there are no dealers in the Dallas area I would consider a boat that has better support. The problem I made was getting an under powered boat motor combo. But with a 90 yamaha I GPS'd at 43 mph. I give that to the hull design. I found an artical that showed hole shots between a Charger and a Gambler. Hole shots were 2.6 seconds, Gambler 2.7 with tabs down. One of the fastest on pad. It's a very good boat.

Are you looking for new or used? My buddy has a 1993 Charger 19 footer with a 200 Yamaha that he is selling.

I have an 2003 Charger and it is great on rough waters, and they are fast.Texas MasterCraft on 820 & trinity rd sell Chargers. I have a Merc 200 on mine and can get into around 71 mph.

I owned a Charger for years and they are great in rough water. When I went to buy a new one 2 yrs ago, I discovered they are still putting wood in their boats. I went with Ranger instead.

I have a 96 Charger boat and have been very pleased with it. Excellent quality put into the boat. Rides very good has required very little maintenance.

The make a good boat. When I did my search, it thought that they were a bit pricy though. They look sharp, ride well, and I have not known a charger owner that didn't like them.

I'd check close on the wood issue and make sure the dealer does not stick you with a suzuki engine.

Glad to have taken..."the trash in the back!"

I have run a Charger for 12 years and have been very pleased with every aspect of their construction, ride, layout and durability. It's nice to have a boat different than most. You won't be disappointed as long as you have a good dealer.
