 Late Report: Record TX Sword (Other Methods) Caught Offshore of Port A

My buddy Capt. Matt Haworth runs the Madera, a 40' Tiara out of Port A and has been targeting swordfish from time to time. Friday before last they hit paydirt with a 79" jf, 265 lb broadbill. Although they had 2 dedicated sword lines out, the fish hit a deep drop on an electric reel (they were fishing for tilefish on the deep drop). The fish took around 45 minutes to bring in and gave the electric reel a real workout. It's my understanding that this is a pending state record for "other methods". Kim
