color change was at about 20 miles this past weekend. Kings were good and caught a ton of atlantic sharpnose also. Hooked on a couple of chicken dolphin right next to the color change also..

just some advice, if your not gonna go to 20 out for that color change, don't try the ships or rigs at 5-8 miles out, we didn't even get a strike...

The winds will be calm and the waves less than 3 feet. Scattered showers so bring the rain gear. We will be going out at around 7 am tomorrow moring. I will be monitoring 68 on the radio. We usually go somewhere between north baker and big southern about 40 to 60 miles offshore depending on weed lines. I will report on this thread before the weekend how we did.

I went out Wednesday and Saturday. On Wednesday we caught 9 Mahi-mahi and on Saturday 45. On both days we found deep blue water about 26 miles ENE from Port A. The Mahi were caught on big grass patches. The patches were so scattered that we could not troll. On Saturday after catching about 20 Mahi we went to South Baker, but no weedlines, nothing on the troll, so we returned to the 26 mile rig area and caught the rest of the fish.

Water color has been poor due to heavy rains and surf conditions.

We caught some on small jigs. Usually the first at a grass patch, then we switched to a circle hook with a piece of mullet. In the beginning we had a hard time to get them eating the mullet. We cut some squid and tried that. What a difference when the squid hit the water we had a fish on. We now call squid dolphin candy. We still chummed with cut mullet to keep them close to the boat. Even though they were reluctant to take a piece of mullet on the hook, when I cleaned them, their stomachs were full of cut mullet. One fish had a piece of saragossa grass in his stomach. I guess he was a vegetarian.
