Went to rollover pass, and caught a bunch of nothing frown. Water was off colored, waves were choppy, scattered showers. We used everything from Gulp to live mullet. Temp. was around 80 deg. We fished the surf, the pass, and the canal side. I did manage to catch a sand trout on ttk purp/char. I think it was the good lord pitying me. Not much was being caught by anyone else. We did get there late (9:00am) due to bro-in-laws truck having problems, and fished until 2:00pm, cuz I got called to work nites.

Last 4hrs of out going tide are the best. Fish the surf with sinking jerk baits. I bet it was bad with the wind and storms out there.

Can anyone give me the 101 on Rollover Pass? Where on the pass? Types of bait? How to determine tides? Any help would be appreciated....

Well you can get a tide chart down there. After high tide wait about 4hrs. Then fish the surf side of the out going tide. mirro sinking jerk baits or 2 hooked spec rigs. Worked slow in fast running water. Watch for other fisherman doing the same. They know what there doing. Evryone fish shrimp on bottom do not. All the get are hardheads.

Incoming tide, the inside of rollerover, outgoing tide, surf or beachside. When you get there, it will be obvious. You can wade either side, but don't act like some idiots, and get right in the pass. You can get in trouble, I've seen it. Wadefishing.com has a good link for tides around galveston area, and for future dates. Also has weather, moon phases, reports.

I have seen the this on Google maps. Can you fish this with a boat? Is it good fishing on the bay side of the pass, where it dumps out?
