If you are cranking with it probably not. You want a lower geared reel to crank with, more power. The real you got is good for worming, flukes, where you may need to catch up and set the hook. My opinion though!

If that is the 7 to 1 gear ratio, about the only cranks I would throw with it would be a trap or something like that. Great for fast moving baits like a buzzbait or toad. Most cranks work better with a slow reel, especially a deep diver.

Traps and Toads, It is awsome how far you can throw a toad with that reel, and how well it functions on baits like toads, frogs, etc

dont not use a 7 to 1 for cranking that is horrible. you need a 5 to 1 for cranking

I have two SX-HS and love them, really the only thing they wouldnt work for would be big crankbaits. You could do that with it but it would sure be a lot of work. I have mine on my frog rod, and the other one on a crankbait rod, but i use it for topwater, traps, shallow cranks and sometimes small deep cranks. I have 3 revos and plan to keep trading up all my reels until thats all I have, I love them.

Like said above, excellent for any presentation that's slow moving with little water resistance. Not as versatile as a 6.3:1 overall, but a great worm, Carolina, flipping, pitching weightless, lipless, or frog reel. Probably the best ratio for a Carolina, flipping, or pitching presentation, period.
