Well, after a few so-so outings lately, today was a good outing for the sandies. I got a few solid fish mid-morning on slabs at 17ft N of the swim cove, including 2 decent LMB and a couple chunk sandies, but also a boatload of those pesky yellows. The bite picked up starting about 11:30AM and continued pretty strong until 2:30PM. About 10 chunky sandies hit white Humdingers hard while trolling 17 ft water on the point S of Airplane. Then used slabs in the same area and got 10 or so more sandies. A couple boats joined in and they got a few keepers as well. Finished a bit further N on Airplane with 3 trolling fish on Humdingers and 6 more sandies on slabs and Humdingers at 13 ft. Only 1 undersized hybrid today. Best slab bite I've seen in awhile at Benbrook, and all in the heat of the early afternoon.

L400,
Sounds like fun - and close to home, too! I haven't had sandie action on benbrook like that in a while. Wish I could fish this weekend. I drove to New Orleans today with the oldest daughter to drop her and her stuff (a lot of it) at Tulane. I fly back tomorrow night. I bet you fish tomorrow, too! I sure would after a day like that at BB.

Hi EB, Yeah, today was fun and I'll give it another shot Sun. The noon bite was kinda like your mid-day outing to RC recently (minus the big hybrids) But it got hotter than I could take by 2:30pm - - kinda odd catching the last few slab fish with the tubers buzzing all around the area. I may poke around in the trees a bit on Sun - - the sandies seem to be holding around submerged stumps near drops. Have a safe flight home. L400
