noidea OK, Here's the deal...

2000 Chevy Extended Cab 1 Ton dually with 7.4 engine. Only has 29000 miles and sits in enclosed building until we go camping with 5th wheel.

AC doing funny things. Runs a while, cools like crazy (I'm talking good and cold), then quits. At first I thought maybe the compressor was cycling for low freon, but it's showing about 40 lbs low side running on Max.

Then one time it quit and when I hit a small chug hole it started cooling again. Same thing happened to my wife. Bump it stops, bump it starts. Sounds like a short to me. Aside from making sure all connectors are in good & tight has anyone got any other ideas before I break down and go the shop route to trace the harness. bang

Check out the connectors in back of the control head. Seen one in the past with that same problem and it was a connector not making good contact. If you do remove it, take a pick and bend the tabs a little to make it tighter.

Also check the connector at the low pressure switch and do the same.

replace the low pressure cycling switch on the receiver dryer, very common problem on that year model especially with the low mileage.

Thanks for the info.

I'll check the rest of the connectors - (easist) then go for the cycling switch....

Is this switch something that can be replaced without pulling the system down? I don't have a vacuum pump or reclaimer or what ever you call that thing to save the freon.

At least I've got an idea and I'm not loosing my marbles!

Thanks again......

Yes just be quick taking it off and putting it back on it has a schrader that will shutoff when it is not depreesed by the switch.
