When you guys bait with range cubes, how much do you usually put out per hole baited. Say out of a 50lb bag, would I bait a hole with 1/4 of the bag? I usually don't throw out too much, and always wonder if I should be throwing more. Then I usually throw out a couple handfulls every 45 minutes or so after the initial chumming.

Normally, I will take a gallon bucket full and spread them along side the boat that I want to fish. Then about every 10-15 min, get a couple of handfulls (10-20 cubes) and spread those out. When you start catching fish, those 2 handfulls about every 30 min will be enough. If you notice the bite easing off, grab another hand full or so and drop them over. That is how it has worked the best for us. No need to "overfeed" them, cuz just about everyone you catch will be thump full. Dusty
Putting a smokeing section in a single room resturant is like putting a pee area in a swimming pool.

Thanks! I've been chumming with a bit less than that.
Dirtycreek- I don't think the brand matters much. Most people use 20% though.

some of the cubes with under 20 % protein do not sink...
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Here is another tip you might want to try...put a couple of hand fulls in a chum bag and hang it over the side of the boat. you can keep the scent around and you know how much has been used just by pulling it up and checking it..

Instead of a chum bag...hang a fish basket over the side with range cubes in it and shake it every once in a while...

does chumming with cubes work from the bank?
"Ahhh, yes yes...who has time? Then again, if we never take time, then how can we ever have time?"

Range cubes work from the bank just fine. Use a slingshot if you need to bait a spot far from shore.

I can't say I bait multiple holes the way you guys do, but Saturday afternoon and night we put in 50lbs of range cubes.
We were carp fishing, but catching cats on shad for fun and for the cooler as well, and we literally caught catfish all night long off all the range cubes we dumped in.
We did not put the 50lbs in all at once, but kept adding more throughout the night.
They all ended up with bellies full of range cube mush, and later in the night, we were catching them and they literally had range cube past dribbling out their gills as we were unhooking them.
Range cubes break down very fast, so I wouldn't recommend using them at a hole you won't return to for days. They are a much better "instant" chum.

This is a stupid question, but never have used range cubes, do they smell really bad like stinkbait? No, they have an earthy smell to them, like good topsoil.
