Anyone know how to rig these? I bought some 4" New Penny Shrimp.
I've heard good things about them, but don't have a clue how to fish 'em.

Ever try it under a pop'n cork, or just with a jighead?

I was in Port A. three weeks ago and caught around 300 trout in two nights. Out of those 50 or so came on the gulp. Just hooked the bait on a hook under a poping cork. New Penny was the color. Would not hit the natural.

"Would not hit the natural."
I would guess that the trout were chasing fish. The gulp shrimp kinda look like a gnarly saltwater assassin! Personally, i think the gulp are no better than any other plastic shrimp, and a lot less effective than fish shaped plastics. I always seem to catch small trout on fake shrimp.

I am going to try them when I get a chance to go back to the coast. I have read some interesting articles in magazines like Texas Fish and Game, that say the Gulp baits will out fish natural baits, plus they stay on the hook longer.
We tried them a little the last time we were down there, but I think for them to work, they are going to have to be fished the same way you would a live shrimp, not just wormed on the hook and throw out on the bottom and tight lined. JMO.

We tried them under a popping cork last week but didn't have any luck. But then again no plastics worked last week, croaker and shrimp seemed to be the magic bait.

The Gulp shrimp worked for us last year at the coast, but didn't seem too effective this year when we went to padre. Gulp also has a sponge like bait that if pretty effective and will last for a while. But all in all, the best method by far is using live shrimp with a live shrimp hook and no weight. You can use a bobber if you like, but the fish hit them really well while they are suspended with just the live shrimp hook.

I hear people talk all the time about the Gulp and others like it. However, the times that I have tried them I did not get out of the ordinary results or anything. In fact, I have not even limted out, caught a trophy, or now that I think about it, even a keeper. It is my experience that they work just as well as a regular soft plastic lure.
However, this is just me. I havent fished them a whole lot and am sure that they are real good. As with any bait, sometimes they want it and sometimes they dont. I have had days when fish have only hit live bait, and others where they want an artificial presentation. I am mainly a lure guy, because I believe you can mimic more patterns and things and cover more water than with live bait. But, the concept is right. An artificial with live bait qualities. Im sure it works great under the right circumstances, lots of fish around!! Same can be said for many lures.
One thing that I do like about the Gulp, is that you can tear them into pieces and catch fish. We ran out of shrimp while sheephead fishing last spring and began to catch them on little torn pieces of gulp.

I'm curious.. Does distance under the float make a difference for specks? I've had fair success playing with depth but it seems I mostly get lucky. There must be system....or not... Thanks for any help...
