May seem like a stupid question but I read somewhere (on ebay -the best place for good information rolfmao)

Someone had mentioned that with newer (mine is an 06) Merc Outboards (2 stroke) that the block is pretty much the same for 50-100 hp.. and you can buy kits to boost / upgrade the HP on say a 50hp motor... Any thoughts?

Just something I have been curious about...

NOPE. can't happen. been through that many times with customers, etc.

unless the block is torn down completely and bored, etc. and recarbed, etc. (which is extremely expensive) you'll be better off just getting a bigger engine.

and no a 50hp engine is not the same as the 100hp engine.

There are several engine horsepowers built off a single sized block but the differences to make the different horsepower ratings can be from programming to jetting. To swap parts to get more horsepower you would be better off just selling and buying the other motor.

That and its also against the EPA laws to alter any motor made after 1998....I think.
