Need some help here. I have been shopping to upgrade my current boat. I have decided on a boat now I need some help. Yamaha v-max or four stroke. I do not know enough about the four stroke other than it has 1 yr more warranty and its fuel injected. The price is only $500 more for a four strke. Does anyone have any more info. to share.

What kind of boat are you putting it on jmak?

There is nothing new about the four stroke. It is just like a car engine. You have crank case oil to change. The main difference over the VMax is probably fuel economy. It also weighs quite a bit more.

Better gas mileage from a Four stroke. Unbeleiveable. Will it perform on the boat you want?

Go with the V-Max. The Four stroke is a great motor but in my honest opinion it doesn't make up for the added weight.

Both are good motors, but the 4-stroke is just too heavy and wont run as well as the two stroke.

I agree w/ Fish Killer. Holeshot normally isn't as good w/ 4 strokes nor is top end. Get the HPDI Vmax and enjoy!

Also on the 4 Stroke more moving parts = more points of future falure.

Everything has it's place, but on a bass boat hull a four stroke isn't one of them.

If you are comparing the HPDI to the 4 stroke the mileage will virtually be identical.

A V6 2 stroke has 6 pistons and rods and a crankshaft. A V6 4 stroke has 6 pistons and rods, a crankshaft, 2 cam chains, 4 cam shafts, and 24 valves. And less torque. And more weight.

They are quieter, and they will troll smoothly all day long.

make sure you get a hpdi on your zx190. I have the v-max carb. engine. great engine but burns a lot of gas. Dealer usually has a carb engine on boat for lower price.

Forgive the stupidty here, I have never owned a yamaha so I am trying to learn all I can before I make an investment.

does the vmax come in a fuel injected model and a carb model or is the fuel injected model the 4 stroke.

Can anyone recommend a great skeeter dealership that is not going to take the consumer to the cleaners. I have been told by one dealership that Skeeter does not like for dealerships to compete with each other. Remarkeably they gave the best price so far. About $2000.00 less than any other dealership.

FWIW.. I just bought a zx200 with a 200HPDI at Fun and Sun in Hurst.. Dealt with Charlie, seemed fair and nice to work with..

The V-Max is fuel injected, no carbs.

The HPDI's are direct injected, no carbs either, just individual high-pressure injectors.

A Yamaha 150 four-stroke is a four-cylinder, not a six. I am convinced that something is wrong with mine. The damn thing doesn�t burn any gas at all. I called Sartin�s recently to make sure that I was doing everything absolutely necessary to be in compliance with the warranty. I figured that the thing was running lean. It will not use gas. What else can I say?
