What are conditions on the lake at present. We won't leave Iowa until Oct., but am always curious about what is happening on the lake. A young lad name of Chris Carey got Sandra & I started on this lake 9 years ago. He started us with a 9.5 for Sandra and last year he topped that with a 18.5 for her. We usually hit Texoma 5 to 8 times per year, but your high water and a busy schedule on my end have kept us home. We will be there in Oct. for sure, preparing know for what to expect!! Gene

They were dropping the lake 4 to 6" a day look at how much water is coming downthe washita. The flow is almost equal to what they are letting out unless they up the release.

The Red River will be pumping close to 30,000 cfs in a day or so also. Between the two it will be getting around 60,000 cfs in a few days. I am surprised the Corps did not bump the discharge rate up to 40,000 cfs Sunday or today.

geneandsandee,
Another excellent source of information is www.sixoldgeezers.com
Its a website pretty much dedicated to Texoma Striper Fishing. Not totally dedicated but close. Best of luck to you.

I went to Texoma on Sunday morning 8-19 and found the fish in 10 to 12 feet of water. They were in the flooded timber in that depth. We did not notice any schooling action but caught over 20 fish in a stretch of shoreline that was only about 100 yards long. All fish were caught on topwater. Kept just enough for a fish fry and let the rest go.

We kept 6 total and 3 were in the 5-6 pound range and 1 was 8-9 pounds. We were trying to catch some for a fish fry for the neighborhood but could only manage 2 fish less than 20 inches to go with our overs. It seemed like they were all cut out of the same mold and the majority the fish caught were 22-24 inches long. We were off the water by 12 noon after starting at daybreak.

That's pretty good Crockpot...we limited ourselves this weekend to the more open water from Platter down to Gilligan's Island and caught nothing...first time back on the water since 6/29, so good to just get out. Glad to read your report...
