The Denny’s in Red Oak is a 24 hour restaurant. Normally

We went today @ 4 pm, rolled right in like normal-
No one up at the front like normal though-
There were a few other folks eating already-
Eventually a young server type nice young lady came up and said the kitchen was closed-
It would have been nice if they could maybe hand a sign on the door or even lock the doors-
I just asked “why” and she said she thinks to clean the kitchen “or something”-

Weird but ok, whatever-

I figured we just rolled in just after the only cook there walked out-
Times, they are a changing-
I would really hate to be responsible for keeping help in almost any retail or restaurant these days-

Much respect to those of you still battling this-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

I went to our local Dairy Queen Tuesday. I parked and walked up to go into the dining area and found a sign on the door that the dining area was closed. It turned out that they had to close the dining area because they did nit have enough staff there to cover the whole place. People just do not want to work. School is out and there should be a lot of high schoolers looking for summer work. Not happening I guess.

They must not have any “illegals” willing to do the jobs that Americans won’t do.

Well, they are closed because of no help…so I’m guessing not good.

We have a Denny's close by to where I live. The General Manager is a fantastic lady and has been with Denny's for over 20 years. She hires a great staff and she pays her cooks good wages. She also has has employees working there for years. Needless to say it is probably one of the few places that I have been in where the CUSTOMER SERVICE has been OUTSTANDING both before and after Covid. This Denny's is also open 24 hours. On a different note there is a local restaurant chain called Jim's, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There were about 20 of them is the San Antonio area. The food was very good and they stayed very busy throughout the day. They were also open 24 hours before Covid. After Covid they had to close half of their stores and now they are only open from 6am till 9pm and are very under staffed. Signs of the times. To me, times have changed for the worst. Just my 2cents

I can, and will, eat "breakfast" at 6, 7, even 8 pm.

Today's kids are mostly lazy, and parents are Facilitating the problem. They buy them nice cars and expensive phones and expect nothing from them. My hats off to the very few that makes their kid get off their [censored] and work during the summer or any time at all. I think we are in the "good times create weak men" phase.

The illegals need to go, if that means I can’t eat at Dennys than so be it. We have plenty of able bodied folks to work- but dancing on tik tok while spending 3grand in ebt money ain’t going to cut it. Ring back government cheese and soup lines and the labor issue would be solved overnight
