Some of you know I was a champion guy from 84 until the 2002 implosion. Did 1,500 demo rides a year, and did a bunch of boat shows. Boat shows brought out the true loons, Another chapter in the book on just weird encounters during shows.
Working the Fort Worth show with Jeff at Fun n Sun, dude walks up, started bragging on his "special order" champ, ran low 90's, super secret layup, boat only weighed 650 lbs. Bought it from Champs head dude, and he really wasn't supposed to talk about it.
Cool story pards, I know most of the champ guys, who'd you buy it from? Pat Goff... Great, hope you enjoy it....

![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/06/full-65297-271835-maxi_award.jpg) was finalist in the International council of Shopping Centers annual Maxi awards ceremony in Los Angeles...they handle this just like they do the oscars or Emmys with a TV or movie star up on the stage handing out awards....I was finalist in best small mall marketing event of the year and the girl that played Daisy in Dukes of hazard was handing out the rewards...I was pretty sure i was gonna win and get to kiss that beautiful girl...They called my name.I jumped up,went bouncing up on the stage....and....somehow they had switched awards stars and Horshack from Welocme back Kotter handed me my award...and he talked through his nose and was just as ugly as he was on TV... This is epic

Was at an house party in Irving in mid 80's, Some guy I knew needed a ride home, He lived about 15 minutes away near DFW airport, I think he lived off 360, so took him home and tried to cut thru DFW airport to shortcut to get back to party, got turned around a couple of times. Went about 15 minutes longer then it should have.
I get back to the party, and the guy I had taken home was back at the party.

I was fishing on Lake Worth few years ago with Mark Perry, and we were working the bank with crankbaits, we were in front of house and hear all this commotions and banging, next thing some kid about 2 year old fall out the window onto the porch of the house that faced the lake.
He seemed ok, mom came and got him, sounded like he tumbled down a flight of stairs and out the window, but we only heard the banging and tumbling and then him flying out the window, the window was open for air circulation.

1983, I was a 24 yo USAF Sgt stationed in Taugu, S. Korea. One night I was in the “ville” drinking and a younger Airman struck up a conversation with me. Talked about the usual when you’re away from home. Later in the conversation he mentions his father was stationed in Newfoundland before he was born. I was kinda taken back and told him my father was a Navigator and was stationed there in 1959 and I was actually born there. Well, come to find out our parents were there at the same time and his mother was one of the only maternity and delivery nurses at the small base hospital. So there’s a great chance his mother helped in my birth! Probably the only “tame” story I have from my 5 years in Korea!

I was out in the middle of no where in an area I’m quite familiar with. Dirt road, public land. No campgrounds, no trails, thick vegetation. Dead end road.
I drive to the end of the road, got turned around and on my way out, decided it was time to drop a deuce in the woods. Turtle head poking out sort of emergency.
It’s dark, maybe 11pm on a weekday in February.
Just as I’m about to start wiping I start to hear some commotion in the bushes, I figured it was a deer or hog.
No way, it’s a dude, with a flashlight. I’m talking an area thick with yaupon. He gets about 20’ away, I start saying hello to get his attention, nothing.
You bet I hustled back to my car, I wiped somewhere else, wasn’t about to get my truck stolen by the zombie walking the woods in the middle of the night.
I suppose I could have spooked him of the road and into the bushes, but have no idea why he would have been out there. Maybe running dogs, but different type of dude none the less.
Be careful out there

Some more from my story. When the guy introduced himself as JP Greeson, my first response was, "No chit, you're the guy who runs the TFF." He responded, "Yep, that's me." Then there was the other time I was having a conversation with some dude who didn't know who I was, and JP and the TFF came up. I told him, "I heard that JP guy was kind of an azzhole."

I used to go to visit relatives in Arkansas a lot , like 5-6 times a yr. I had an older cousin (25 yrs older than me) that was really into coon hunting. One night while chasing dogs we came upon a stack of cannon balls, Small ones a little bigger than a grape fruit about 25-30 of them. We surmised there was a skirmish there during the civil war. There is a lot of history there and near there. Probably been there 100 yrs. Went back the next day and We could not find the place. Almost every time I went back we went and looked for the pile of cannon balls but never found them. It was the last thing we talked about before he died in 2004 in the VA hospital in Little Rock. I may still have the one I picked up but have not seen it in awhile.

Went skiing in Ruidoso 1985 and ran into a co-worker/ friend that had moved away a few years before. Him and his wife were with another couple that were from Wichita Falls. We met them for drinks after skiing and during the conversation, the woman with our friends said she had an aunt from the town we lived in. She referred to her as my aunt Lola. My wife said, that's funny, I also have an Aunt Lola. Come to find out, she was referring to my wife's real Aunt Lola (her mother's sister). My wife's Aunt Lola was not actually the woman's aunt, but that was what she knew her as when she was a kid growing up. I can`t remember how she actually knew my wife`s aunt though. She was an old maid, and all of her nieces were sister's daughters.
Was in Las Vegas years ago. Was at a ticket booth of some kind and a person in line heard me talking and said "I`ll bet you are from Texas". I told him I was from Texas. He asked me what town you from and I told him. Then he said he knew where I was from and if I knew a specific person from my hometown. I told him, yes, he lives directly behind me. True story.

Here's a crazy one...
As a kid, we were poor and lived in military housing. Many of my birthdays, my parents were traveling for training, schooling, etc. So they never really meant much to me or the family. I have a birthday in the summer which also meant, many of my school friends would be away for vacation. So I was pretty much alone during the summer as well. Yeah, I know, whoa is me. AHAHHAHAHA
When we moved to Camp Pendleton, CA, I started hanging out with 2 families, which soon became, 3, 4, etc. In this circle of friends, we had some really odd things going on.
Our parents birthdays were days apart, in one case, literally a day apart. My sister and my friend had the same birthday. My best friend and I had a birthday a day apart. And even one of our buddies from school shared the same day as I.
In all the years of living, moving, etc. I never once had anyone share the day with me, let alone the day after. Needless to say, birthdays were never the same as we got to share them with others.
To this day, I still call or text my friends on their birthday as it's so easy to remember.

I was at Robie's dock in Islamorada , FL. late 80's Feeding the Tarpon , my ex-wife Said " is that Jimmy Houston ? ," I said no , that is Roland Martin. He had a yellow fly with no hook on the end of a spinning rod. Slapping it on the water, his camera man was laying on the dock with a camera under the water. After a few minutes he said " i got the shot " Roland handed a $100bill to the dock attended , got on his boat and took off. Fast forward to the next spring , I was watching Roland's fishing show. He said , Today we will be fly fishing for tarpon in Islamorada. The short video of a tarpon taking the yellow fly in murky water off the Robie's dock, was edited to appear that in happened in the crystal clear water on the flat. Roland made a cast , you saw the tarpon take the fly (close up , one ft away) then you saw Roland set the hook. Such BS, I still can't believe I saw that happen , and then saw it used in his show. Another time I saw Roland and his wife fishing shiners on lake Okeechobee . His wife set the hook on a big bass on a spinning rig, magically it showed her land the fish on a rod with a bait caster. No wonder I don't watch fishing show anymore MO

Had a 45cal miss my head by a foot and hit the couch I was sleeping on. Evidently on new years someone driving by held the gun out the window and just randomly popped one off….😆

I once met a guy at a tackle show who introduced himself to me as JP Greeson. There were 4-5 people standing around when it happened. I ended up having to pull out my driver's license to prove I was the real JP. And it wasn't some kinda prank. I bet I can almost guess who it was that did that to you.
