Check this^^^^^^ with humidity like it's been units are putting off a ton of water. Float switch will probably look like a cup next to the drain line with 2 wires going into it. Top pops off and cup pivots upside down to empty. Blow the line out. Then there is probably a 5 minute delay.

This makes a lot of sense with what the OP describes. I have personally had that issue on a hot holiday weekend and just removed the float and put a bucket under the line and checked/emptied every few hours.

Bingo! This more than what I posted while delusional last night.

I had a very very similar issue and it took several days to figure out. Besides the float switch you might want to check the wall switch in the attic. My switch had melted away where the wire was screwed down so the contact to the wire would move away when hot and when it cooled off it would come back into contact. I had a A/C guy come out but of course it was working fine when when he was here. I called him the next day to tell him it was acting up again and he suggested checking the switch. He was also is the AC guy who had installed it 2 months earlier replacing a 14 year old unit. As soon as I took the cover off of the wall switch it was obvious. The wall switch was a cheaper builder grade switch rated for 15 amps. Not sure if that was an issue too as it is a 20 amp line going to it. Good luck.

Fan on the unit outside comes on with no issue. It starts up, but doesn't run for more than 10-12 minutes. I checked the drain area, but don't see any water in the tray. I'll need to look for a float switch.

Float switch will be on unit, it doesn't take alot of water to trigger it so their pan probably won't have water in it.
