Caught these two lovely 12 lbers around Oak Grove early this morning on cut buffalo. I usually only ever catch eater size channels so I only had my eater size channel cooler. I reckon next time I'll bring a bigger one lol. I got exactly no bites for about 3 hours and then BAM I got a huge hit and landed the first one and about 20 minutes later I landed the second. The first was with a heavy Mad Katz rod with a big Penn Fierce reel and 40lb mono. The second was on a medium Ugly Stik with a cheap little Sougayilang reel with 10lb braid. So fun.

Made it out Saturday for a few hours. We were going after the green fish this time but saw plenty of boats AND birds working the end of Murrell Point. This seemed to be most of the morning. Spent the first hour of the morning fishing around the island and didn't see any fish activity/birds/boats there. Later in the morning while we were fishing the backs of pockets between Murrell and Rockledge, there were several schools of white bass that would pop up chasing shad. We could tell they were really small though and the bait they were chasing was tiny.

I was there Saturday from 7 till 11 ish. I saw the same thing went to the island first and nothing there, so off to Murrell and it was on for an hour or so with mixed small and large fish. Caught 3 cats that ranged from 7 to 9 lbs. during out catching of sandies. Headed out to Meadowmere and caught a couple of sandies and a drum. We went back to the Murrell point and continued to catch sandies till we had to go. Kept 25 fish but we were 100+ on fish in the boat. It was good and steady most of the morning. Most fish were in the 28 to 31 ft range. Seemed like everyone was catching fish around us. Oh, and all caught on 3/4oz or 1 oz white or chrome slabs. Straight down or saw-toothed retrieve.
Looks like the upper end of the lake was clearing up so I will try our west of Meadowmere next time I go out.

Sandbass were on murrell point yesterday. Birds working all afternoon, but the big ones were on the bottom in the green circle. The purple circle was where the birds were working the surface. Fished all day for the green fish, but got a few fixes when i passed by murrell. [Linked Image]

Trust me.

Big wobbling cranks, good vibration and not too fast for fish to catch up and feed !!

Found them at Murrell Point yesterday. Fished from 8 until noon. We put in at Meadowmere and someone at the ramp said that they were catching small sandies on the West side of Meadowmere cove on the way out. We looked and did not find any. Headed to Murrell and caught a couple. There were several boats but not much action. Headed to Rockledge and found nothing there. Back to Murrell and still quiet. Checked the island and caught a few but not not many. Ran over to Sand Bass Point and again caught a few. This spring Murrell has been the most consistent for me so gave it one last try and found fish. I guess the third time is the charm. It was 11:30 or so by then. Slow but steady fishing with a mix of sizes. Had a hard stop at noon so left them biting.

Fished from about 0300-1000 yesterday and didn't even get a bite. Fished around the same hours this morning and the bite was on fire from about 0400-0630 or so. I caught these 5 channels and got several other big bites but missed the hookups. I think I might need to try some different circle hooks or maybe try snelling instead of palomar. I was using shad. Caught a damn gar in my cast net. Thank goodness it didn't get all torn up. I also caught a few small sandies on a drop shot with cut shad. No keepers though. [Linked Image]

This is terrible news. I've taken my kayak out on LG a couple times. One of those times was on a busy weekend evening, and I will never do it again. Too many wakeboard boats and jetskis way to close to each other going way too fast. Even though it's more spread out, Lake Lewisville isn't any better.
