Worthless parents- my son is 12 and he ran the zero turn yesterday, still not quite big enough to weed eat to my satisfaction though

I am surprised at the number of student workers that we get that are 20 years old and older and have never worked a day in their lives. How the heck is that possible? Then you have to explain how to do everything, which is fine, but dang...Most are good kids, but they had parents that worked and left them to their own electronic devices. As for mowing, I figured most guys my age and younger do it to get away from their wives/kids for an hour or two each week...and never bothered to teach their kids how to mow.

Parents. 100%
Olds bitch and moan about other people’s [censored] kids and how terrible younger generations are but they don’t mention their own [censored] kids that they failed to raise properly

We have two daughters that had jobs during high school, and when they got to college they didn’t have to work but felt wrong to not have a paycheck. That worked out and made me happy. The oldest raised her kids just like that and they turned out great. The other daughter deferred to her husband, who had a miserable childhood, so his approach was to pamper them. To me, they are close to worthless, but time will tell. I’m watching closely.
At least the oldest granddaughter married a real capable guy.

Parents. If parents do not put their kids to work, they won't do any.

Guess I was the weird kid. I was taught once how to mow the yard at a young age and I always just did it. As I grew up, to show my spite, I'd let it get really tall and thick and then scalp words into the lawn so anyone who drove by could see. It started out innocent at first with just carving my name into the dark green tundra, then my vocabulary grew and I learned only adults can use those words. Mother was not impressed. Alas, I was still the tasked with lawn care and I eventually got the job done. It was one of those "box of chocolate" kind of things. Mom never knew what to expect when she came home from work. Yes, it's the parents, BTW.

I feel a tad bit different about this...My Dad was in the military, he was always traveling for training, school, war, etc. I learned to take of the home because he was gone. I learned from my neighbors or friends.
What I did learn, was that my Mom is one badass, my dad made sure we had a roof and food.

it's always the parents . biggest mistake they make is not being on the same page as parents when it comes to responsibilities , consequences and respect . teach em how to become adults or they will be in your house forever
