The average person (who can remain calm under duress) with average hand eye and average spatial awareness could, if properly instructed, land a small plane.....many have done it.

If you have never flown a plane before, no training or anything, do you think you could land a small plane if for some reason the pilot became unconscious?
I’m pretty certain I could find the ground, but not certain if I could land it without breaking it. If a parachute is available I would feel more comfortable just abandoning the plane- I would fight you for it if you didn’t have that titty pinching hand on.

I might have to go down with the plane if he pulled the claw out on me. It I’d go down with a smile.

Brian, if you observe people in roadway traffic, I think you'd have to agree many are challenged to operate even a motor vehicle - usually in two dimensional space. Rudder? where's that? what does it do? I still think I would give it hell. I could at LEAST hit the runway I think Actually, you could be better off on the grass adjacent to the runway, an intentional lesser evil choice prudent in certain circumstances.... less chance of sparks then fire you wouldn't care for

My sons plane actually has a parachute lever to pull as long as you're above 400' above ground level.
