The only guys who want FFS are the ones who have unlimited $ as it is driving all others out of the game. Many are the high school and college with ma and pa paying for it and it is a game to them. They love it until they can't have it and they will leave if they can't have it. So sad that we are going thru this but it comes down to the haves and the have nots and it is destroying the thing we have loved for so long.

This is the real reason in this response, emotions & jealousy. Same argument and same emotions, for the last few decades, "We can't compete!" FFS is just the latest thing as to why someone who has the same opportunity cannot compete. Am I the only one that see's it this way?

U are complaining about someone having more money, and assuming all younger kids have parents paying for it. U are assuming that is the only way kids catch fish. Even if any of this is true who cares! Does not make you a better fisherman. We have always, since the beginning of time , had have's and have nots. So did it destroy fishing 40 years ago, 20 years ago, 10?

I'm no better with FFS than I was without. I won more money without last year. There is a change on the water that is starting to materialize

Keep FFS, add to the payout, watch numbers rise. That has always been the winning formula for tournament participation. Everyone has less to spend, guess what the first thing is that a family will cut back on is?

You would think if everyone is all about FFS then the 2 regional trails that keep it in play should see a decent to big jump in entrants compared to the one that bans it.

It will be interesting to see it play out. Let the market decide which format is more popular. Nothing g wrong with having choices.

I’m the king of spooking baitfish. Lmao! I do enjoy scoping, after I’ve tried everything else in my tackle box to get a bite the old fashioned way.

Didn’t think it was a big deal at the local level, but apparently even at the weeknight tournaments on some lakes it’s dominating. Bed fishing with a scope was good for a Champs win recently, some of the good TTO finishes on twok came compliments of the scope… it came up at the ramp recently and I was surprised to hear so many folks say it’s a problem locally not just at the pro level.

Lake Worth Workingmans Tournaments
Every Wednesday from April 2nd to end of August
$50 entry + $10 Side Pot - 100% Payout
6pm - 9pm

Things have gotten so expensive, I use to not even blink about fishing expenses, I now need to plan more. I cannot fish everything I want to. I just recently talked to my wife about finding some income to help out. I just don't blame FFS as the reasons for tournament numbers falling, Maybe its #3 on the list. For many decades it was this or that why numbers were down. "Allowing guides", "Allowing Pros", "Front ending", "No limits of pre fishing", "Locals", "No Info". Heck do we remember the disdain for people running 250s, so we created a league for 150 hp or less that failed. I mean we can go on, today its "FFS". surely people can see the pattern here.

Agree and disagree. It's a multitude of things for sure and I do see your pattern. And money is definitely tighter. But I think when money is tighter, more things like FFS come into consideration. Guys who might've still fished previously when funds were tighter, are now a little disenfranchised and simply pass. When gas was $4 gallon folks were still lining up at the Ramps, pre-FFS.

Weekend anglers are demoralized and its showing. The donators have lost the hope of "Any Given Saturday" it could happen. Banning it could help but it might be too late. Quitting tournaments (for me) was hard the first season and then a piece of cake after.

If you're not scoping your not winning 80% of tournaments. That's just a fact.

Another "FFS banned" rumor. I'll believe it when I see it.

You guys that complain about FFS better actually support this “alleged” trail. If not, you’re just a bunch of Randy Blaukets.

I'll ask a stupid question, where are they giant piles of kids that fished high-school stuff over the last decade. Some of these kids are hitting their late 20s, some had money to begin with. Did 99 percent of them vanish. If 10 percent of them stuck around there should be no tournament turnout issues. I though the whole grow the sport was a thing.

Inflation affects daddy's money too. I can tell you in my neigborhood, there are a lot of high school kids who don't have a vehicle, when I was growing up everyone had a car once they got their license. Is it that they can't afford it or just don't want one IDK. Different times.

A handful ventured out to college for fishing, half of them realized that it was not a lucrative career. A handful stayed and are fishing local, some are doing well.
However, I agree that most have just disappeared into the woodwork. It was cool in HS but now they are moving on to other things. Tournament fishing is a lot of work if you expect/hope to do well and a lot of kids just don't have that in them... and there's nothing wrong with that either.
