Remember that air conditioners don’t just blow cold air. They remove heat. You will have duct it to the outside. It’s not a cute little package unit like you see there. Imagine that with your dryer vent coming off the back. This^^^. I posted below. It puts off more heat than its worth. If you pipe it outside it works great. Im not sure some of you have an understanding of how ac works lol. Go outside and put your hand over fan. When ac is on its putting out hot air. Thats the heat being pulled out as unit cycles. If it's not blowing hot air it's not cooling inside same for a window unit or a mini split. I did have it vented. It came with the hose kit. I'm not a aggie So what heat are you talking about it putting off? The hot air it's blows outside?

I found out by using a temp gun that you must insulate the exhaust hose to get great cooling from these portable type units. I have two that both run with a 20 degree differential, which is outstanding. I just wrapped some blankets around the exhaust hose to maintain the benefit of these type units.

Yep, that's exactly what I bought at Home Depot. That little dude was great for its purpose.

How would I vent it my garage with just a side door/storm door that does have a screen?

An option would be to vent it up through the attic drop down opening.

How would I vent it my garage with just a side door/storm door that does have a screen? I feel like these types of units would be very difficult to run the exhaust out through a storm door in a garage. You really need a window. Unless your side door in the garage has a window You're probably going to want to vent it up into the attic or something like that. That said I'm not sure these supplemental units would be great in a garage. Because of the amount of condensation and humidity I feel like it would be fouling up all the time. These shine when trying to cool off a smaller room inside of a home that already has air conditioning. If you are looking to legitimately cool off a garage I would look into a mini split over a portable.

I am looking at using a split for my trailer at the lake. Appreciate everyone’s comments.
