Fork is 20 minutes away, Holbrook 10 minutes. I was a weekend warrior on Fork for 30 years driving from Rowlett and Garland. I'd really like to try Athens again. Used to fish is a lot as well.
Try Hawkins and Winnsboro to.

Grapevine since the 70’s but rarely go there anymore. Before I could drive did the 11 mile trip down old Hwy 157 on my bike 21 mornings straight one summer (after delivering the morning paper ).

Closest lake to me is Kickapoo, when it's full it actually crosses one of my fence lines. We have a family house on PK so I consider that my home lake. Used to do some great Quail hunting around Kickapoo when my Dad coached at Burkburnett.

Texoma and Ray Roberts. Guided on Roberts starting in a canoe before it opened for 22 years. Now live in Central Texas and just fly fish2-6 times a year
Some people go to church and think about fishing. Some go fishing and think about God.

I live less than 10 minutes from Murrell Park or Twin Coves Park so Lake Grapevine is my home lake at present.

Bachman. Seen the lake go through many cycles since I started fishing her in the 1980s. They are done with the new skate park; which is great as Bachman had one of the first skate parks in Texas in the late 70s. Almost done with the new dam/spillway also. They lowered it about three feet while working on the dam; hopefully it fills back to full pool as it fishes better with more vegetation and rip rap in the water.
