And pro tips, if you can isolate room you are wanting to cool as much as possible it works better, also if you ac sensor if near it it will cause rest of the house to heat up as main unit won't run as much

I do that for the room where the thermostat is. Living room area and kitchen. Used an Amazon basics expandable curtain rod. The heaviest black out curtains I could find. That's around $60 dollars hanging to block off the rest of the house.

It's worth it. I bet I've bought around $240 in black out curtains to cover the hottest windows.

I can keep the main comfort area 10° below outside temps without an AC.

Good Advice.

Up your insulation game if possible.

free standing units work, but high ceilings and larger rooms they will struggle to keep "cool" unless you have a couple of units

This!

We actually put 4 zones in our home we just remodeled, along with a control4 system. A little pricey to do a whole home, but well worth every penny. Also put in a sonos system as well.

This looks good but a question, why need the window?
drip pan no issue.

What about noise?

I hope the HD in Greenville has one

If you got portable, get a dual hose. Single hose systems cause a pressure change that will create a suction and draw air in from the outside. A dual hose system or window unit will prevent that.

Remember that air conditioners don’t just blow cold air. They remove heat. You will have duct it to the outside. It’s not a cute little package unit like you see there. Imagine that with your dryer vent coming off the back.

The physics of ac..... it blows the hot air out and if you don't blow it outside the room stays the same temp....

Had the same issue as the OP has.

Master bedroom was always way hotter than the rest of the house.

I got a unit very similar to what WAWI posted here.

Now we keep the master bedroom cold as a refrigerator at night and turn the house AC to 79.

Works out great. Saves a lot on electricity. And when it cools down I just roll it into the closet until it gets hot again.

My unit has a drip pan underneath it for condensation. If it's really bad it has a hose you can put out the window. But I only have had to empty that pan once per summer. The unit will stop working and throw you an error code once it is full. Takes 30 seconds to empty the pan And you are good to go until next year.

I would definitely look into something like this. It's a lot cheaper, easier and just as effective as a mini split.

PS That is a very good price for 13,000 BTU. I would get on that deal if you're interested in going that route

79!!!! Holy sweat your ballz off man.

Bought one and took it back. It worked in my garage but you have to vent it and the compressor is inside the room and its loud and puts out alot of heat. Better option is a window unit or mini split if you want to get serious.

This^^^. I posted below. It puts off more heat than its worth.

If you pipe it outside it works great. Im not sure some of you have an understanding of how ac works lol. Go outside and put your hand over fan. When ac is on its putting out hot air. Thats the heat being pulled out as unit cycles. If it's not blowing hot air it's not cooling inside same for a window unit or a mini split.

No. It's cold AF in the master. No one is in the rest of the house at night. The wife freezes the master with the stand alone. Which yes, has to vent out a window. I guess some people here don't understand the basics of cooling and condensing air. Tends to remove "heat" and moisture from the air and that hot air has to go somewhere.

But I digress.

That said, I'd be fine at 79 with a fan. Seems men are getting softer by degrees...
