Are any of y'all a part of one of these? I loaned out my chain & pole saws to a friend of mine or I'd be up there right now. How do I get into this? I'm older and it's not the best of equipment, but it can certainly do some heavy lifting and moving.

I don't have an answer to your question but....good on you, sir!

The Cajun Navy has expanded their reach and does a lot more than hurricane stuff these days. Might check them out,

I like this and the Baptist Relief suggestion. And a 2nd on bringing more fuel than you think you'll need. Be prepared to sleep with your equipment.

Look up Texas Baptist Men. My dad ran a chainsaw crew and they became very large. Now they doe everything from storm cleanup to food and shower trucks. They also build churches, but that is not exactly disaster recovery.
My father is a vice president now for the group. They are based out of Garland I believe.
They actually changed names to Texans on a mission.

That seems to be the main one around N. Texas. One of the ones who require a home church, which I'm sure I can work out.

I talked to the boss about it today and explained to him what was going on. We originally had today off for weather, but they called us in about 9:45. He seemed cool about going and helping where help is needed, just gotta figure out how to appease work AND volunteering.

Thank you all who chimed in. Best way to get started is to ask questions and I found out some great information today. I've missed three opportunities so far and time to get off my can.
