Thursday morning at the 154 bridge at 5:15 a.m. at Lake Fork.
Just picked up coffee at the minnow bucket to head to the lake.
On the north side of the bridge I saw a large animal on the side of the road.
I thought it was a big dog but as I passed it looked like a gator.
I wasn't too awake yet and thought it could have been something else.
Nope, partner arrived and we went fishing.
He mentioned the dead gator on the bridge today-someone had run over its head-about 6 foot long he said.
I told him I was glad he saw it to confirm it for me and not my imagination.
First dead gator on the road I have seen in Texas.
I had a big one around me on Monday in Little Caney.

A guy I went to high school with hit one in a Hum Vee a few years ago south of Monroe, Louisiana about that size. He wasn't sure what he hit because it was dark so he turned around and went back to see what it was. He could see where something had crawled through the grass on the roadside and he walked to the edge of the road to look it almost got him. A very mad injured gator.

Could be same gator I saw a 2 weeks ago while idling out of the Caney Point facility. Thought it was strange seeing one this far south of Coffee Creek.

I saw to big gators in the back of little caney a few years ago. Both of these were over 8’. I wonder how many pets have gone missing from the people that have trailers back there?

First time we came to Fork we got there in the middle of the night... Dark as fluck... Hit the bridge and we notice all the black spot, first thought was Dang Potholes... A few days later is was nasty rain and temps dropped so we figured we'd hit the tackle shop. Head back across the bridge and figure out they were dead coots not potholes... Never seen that many dead in such a short distance... Dan

Was at Fork for the first time ever a few weeks back. I was heck bent I wanted to see my first Gator. We ended up seeing 9 different ones. We saw one in Little Mustang. Then the next day went to Little Caney and saw 8 different Gators that day. Most were 6 footers but we saw 2 different GIANT ones. Was able to get a ton of pictures and videos of them! It was something I'll never forget.

I ve never hit a deer but ran over two alligators in a 6 month period while driving thru the everglades, years ago.. the first time was the worst... alligator laying in road trying to stay warm.. never saw it until it raised up on all fours, mouth open, and hit it doing about 50 mph in Everglades National Park.. I never hit my brakes as it was caught underneath car, tail banging the car so hard I couldnt believe it.. when it finally came out after dragging it for 50 yards, hit brakes and could see it doing flip flops in break lights.. before I could get car turned around it had made its way back into the grass.. didnt go looking for it... drove back to park entrance to let ranger know what happened and where... he asked if I needed a tow truck.. declined and made the 38 mile drive to Flamingo dragging fiberglass ground effects. all kinds of damage..

Did over $2000 in damage.. 6 months later had the same thing happen but knocked it out dead... picture above on Tamiami Trail. Had a hard time but dragged it out of the road... have a good idea what it would take to drag a fat man.

They get ran over all the time down here in southeast near the bay. I see them about once a month or so.
