Been looking for a new SUV and I am surprised to see what kind of nonsense some of the dealerships have adopted to increase their profits. My son worked with a dealership in Houston who adds a $2,000 ceramic coating with no option to opt out. Today I was working a deal on the phone with the Kia dealer in Lufkin and after a conversation with the third sales person they finally admitted that the vehicle had a dealer add on of almost $3000 for fabric protection, Lo-Jack and one year free maintenance. I told them to keep it and they tried to convince me that every dealer did that, but I bought a new Mazda and a new Honda in Tyler over the past 5 years and neither dealer tried to pull this stunt.
So if you are looking for a Kia, stay away from the dealer in Lufkin

So if you are looking for a Kia, stay away from the dealer in Lufkin Yep. Scotch Guard on the seats, $1000 stain protection. Spray wax underneath, $1000 undercoat protection. Spray wax on top, $1000 paint chip protection. Etch VIN on window, $1000 antitheft deterrant. Then tack on a $4000 warranty that's only useable 8 hours from my house.

Who the hell considers a Kia an SUV? Any of their vehicles will fit into the bed of my truck... There is a reason its spelled KIA...

First thing the dealer I just bought from did was open the invoice and remove all that BS. I told him the number I couldn’t go above and he made it happen. Had him running back and forth with both the credit and sales manager working on the price for me.

Until folks stop buying from dealers that sell that extra nonsense, they're gonna keep doing it.
If I could charge my employer $50 for the coca cola I bought for $1.50 at the cafe on Friday and they had no issue paying for it, I'd do it too.

If I could charge my employer $50 for the coca cola I bought for $1.50 at the cafe on Friday and they had no issue paying for it, I'd do it too. Amen, I recently needed a part for my VW. The dealer said they had it, 40 bucks. I get online, myvwpart.com, they have it for pickup at this same dealer, $17. Saved 23 bucks buying it online before going to pick it up. Scammers.
