Anna Jarvis is widely credited with founding Mother's Day in the United States. She organized the first official Mother's Day celebration in 1908, inspired by her own mother's efforts to teach women about child care. Jarvis later campaigned to make it a national holiday, which President Woodrow Wilson officially established in 1914.

Now I don't want to sound like I'm picking on mothers. I love mine and appreciate her very much. But dang it, we celebrate everything....valentines, easter, mothers day, teacher appreciation day, fathers day, 4th of July, halloween, thanksgiving, christmas and all 50 birthdays in between. Every year, things seem to get a little bigger. The parents have aged. The size of the family has grown. More falls on us. Our siblings don't help much. Everything is a major production to a point I'm not really enjoying any of it. It just feels like obligation after obligation. I usually get to cook while one complains about too much salt and the other wants a salt shaker...or A1 and ketchup, you know what I mean? And since when did it become a thing to send out graduation announcements for college grads? Let's celebrate that too.

Heck, idk, maybe celebrations were more fun before I quit drinking but all I want for father's day is to be left the hell alone.

Rant over.

We celebrate Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving... Those are days we celebrate with family and extended family... Cookout and sit down meals... The rest may be "holidays" but they're just others days of the week... We dropped Valentines Day and Sweetest Day after we got married... New Years Day is just a day to sit around and watch football... Dan

They Holidays that are on Sunday are just designed to honor someone/Something, The one that are on Mondays are Holidays to give most people a long weekend.

Let’s cancel Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and birthdays too. No one’s that special. Saturday morning cartoons? Gone. Instead, encourage the doomscrolling of websites predicting the collapse of America.

No more joy, no more whimsy, just a gray, humorless grind from cradle to grave. What a legacy to leave future generations.

The good thing is no one is forced to participate in any of them

Don't ever say you aren't special. You are very special....just like everbody else. But all we're doing is leaving a legacy of participation trophies.
