This is my favorite. It doesn’t have a name. It’s a 7’ Cara, full cork grip. I bought it in Lufkin at the academy around 2010. Doe they still make this? I see it’s similar to a “lizard dragged 2” but rated differently. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/05/full-121935-268209-img_2328.jpeg)

I think the modern version of that rod will be the dragger 1. I have several like yours in a medium heavy and they are a little on the light side compared to the low riders. The heavy would probably be a really good rod.

Well. I’m not sure if they make it or not, but it is absolute fire. There isn’t much it won’t do. You can rip traps out of the grass, trig, weightless seniors, swim a little swimbait around cover.
I don’t actually like it much for crig or fb jigs, but it’s descent for pitching a jig around to cover on shorter casts.
Please. Rod makers. Quit with the split grips, no benefits.

McClellands heavy cover jig rod with a full grip is the ultimate fb jig launcher. Too bad I kicked my last one off the deck a few years back.

I have the same rod and love it. I prefer a full cork also and it's getting harder to find them. Have a couple of Dobyn's full cork that are sweet.
Catch em, kiss em, let em go

The full cork movement needs to make a return, split grips were cool for a bit; but full cork is where it’s at.

The full cork movement needs to make a return, split grips were cool for a bit; but full cork is where it’s at. Costs...cork, good cork, is more expensive. Besides, I like split grips for balance and weight reduction. Cork for casting, cranking, etc. as you don't need that as much.

People think split grips are “cool” it has nothing to do with weight or balance. Bring back the full grips.

My favorite is a 7 foot medium "Clark Wendlant" Cara. They were basically a Cara blank with a foam grip. I would kill to have another and I haven't seen one for sale in years and I look all over all the time.

All of my falcons have 🇺🇸 on them…I quit when they quit.
