If you are fifty years old or older and have never seen a cardiologist…..make an appointment. Most of the time there are no warning signs.
Older than 50yo male = primary care prostate evaluation, cardiologist appointment, colonoscopy. Go ahead and strongly consider getting the shingrix two part vaccination. You don’t ever want a bad a case of the shingles and the newer shingrix vaccination puts significant odds in your favor of avoiding that hell.

Had 2 congenital defects (i had zero idea) that created a 4.9cm high thoracic aortic aneurysm. In late Dec of '16 they fixed all of it in NYC. As Dawg said, it's a PITA, but, you WILL be glad you did it. Just make sure you're comfortable with your surgeon, etc.
Best wishes for a highly successful surgery and a smooth recovery.. 👊🏼😉👍

I had the same exact situation at 65. I was very active and never had chest pain but started getting tired after walking nine holes of golf. My EKG showed some issues so they did a cath and found three 99 percent blockages. The doctor moved me to the ICU and Dr Bill Turner did a triple bypass early the next morning. He was qualified to operate with my heart still beating so there was no heart lung machine. I was home three days later. He works at Mother Francis Heart Hospital in Tyler. If you call his office they may be able to connect you with a surgeon closer to you with the same qualifications.

Yes sir. 👍👍👍👍👍 It amazes me the number of people who never seem to have regular check ups and exams as they age. After 50 one really should consider yearly exams and anything your PCP recommends. Many issues are “preventable” or can be dealt with early. EARLY detection is most often the best scenario. We all age and develop different issues. Can’t stop that, but we can be proactive in our health. Go to the doctor. Be honest with him/her and DO NOT ignore issues. My biggest issue is that my body and my very young mind seem to war. I always want to work thorough whatever it is. Age makes that a risk. Yearly physicals Stay active Eat decent. Alcohol is poison. Sugar is poison. Good sleep is an absolute. Number one issue as we age is muscle loss. The human body requires muscle to function as intended. Stay strong. God bless you sir on this journey. May you come out on the other side, renewed.

Yep, don't ignore the signs. I am 65. Was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes around 40, been doing good with that. At the time, i was about 300 lbs, now down to 200. Never any real health problems. My primary doctor convinced me to start seeing a cardiologist because of family history. My dad died at 52 after a few heart attacks. Cardio scheduled me for an Echocardiogram, MRI, and stress test about 10 years ago. During the Echo, the tech went and got the doctor to come take a look at what he was seeing. Doc took one look and asked when I had my heart attacks, plural, because he could see the damage. Two weeks later I had 4 stents put in. I know there had been days that I just felt like dog poop and came home and went to bed. Never any chest pain or nothing like that. Cardio said with was probably because of neuropathy from the diabetes that kept me from feeling the pain from a heart attack. Been keeping an eye on things and started taking better care of myself and know my limits since.

Went to a cardiologist for routine tests (first time) he found blockage on one of m arteries.
Stent couldn’t get past the blockage so two weeks later had triple bypass surgery.
Went to UTSW in Dallas and Jaye Weston performed the surgery, good doctor.
Been a year since surgery and started walking a few weeks after coming home.
Walk two miles every morning and 10,000 steps most everyday.
Buy a Fitbit when you get Home it will tell you instantly how your recovery is going!
Good Luck!!!

This is kind of long but I hope it helps some others on TFF.
Don’t ignore the signs of heart problems. I am 64 years old and fairly healthy. A little overweight but very active, work out 3 days a weeks and eat pretty healthy. I’ve taken cholesterol med and blood pressure meds for years. To the point!
I started feeling tired more often than normal about 6 months ago, I would go work out and have to take a nap. I would work in the yard or the barn an hour or two and go take a nap. I never had shortness of breath, chest or neck pain. Basically other than being tired a lot I felt as good as I have in 30years. But being so tired finally concerned me. I made an appointment with my cardiologist and he had me do a CT scan and Echocardiogram. It show some mediocre blockage so he ordered a heart catheter procedure. He told me I might need a stint in my widowmaker. The results of the cath were devastating, I have 5 blockages ranging from 80%to 100%. And now have to have a quintuple heart bypass! And I feel great. The Dr said I was a walking timebomb! Now I have to pick a surgeon fast because he wants this done in the next 2 weeks!
My warning to all is Don’t Ignore Any Signs! Get Regular Cardio Checkups And Don’t Think This Can’t Happen. You don’t have to feel bad to be on the verge of a heart attack.
Please throw a few prayers my way also. Similar situation with my neighbor. He's only like 44 and had little energy and started have some chest pains one day. He had stopped by his parents house and the actually forced him to go to the ER. He was care flighted and under the knife within an hour of walking into the ER. Had to get 3 stints.
