I have a 2014 921 Phoenix that needs to be updated. It’s pretty much set since I quit tournament fishing about 4 years ago. I drag it out every now and then pump old gas out fire it up on the hose etc. I lost interest in fishing, I was ate up with it for many many years. It’s about time for me to knock the dust off my old boat, wife wants to fish. I’d go buy a new rig but not sure it would get used. I also doubt I’ll go back out on the BFL even though I’m now retired and have time. Even if I bought a 2-3 year old used rig, electronics might not be current.

My 921 has Gen 2 Lowrance, 12 in the back, 9 in the front. Down scan, side scan front and back all networked. Have a Sirius module too.

My buddy says go Garmin, he says mapping and forwards scan way better than Lowrance. I’ve been away to long and flat don’t know. I was kinda hoping I could reuse my network and rear down/side scan transducer and Sirius module. I looked at the compatibility chart for transducers but it might as well been in Chinese with all the abbreviations lol.

I was thinking a new 12 in the front with forward scan and 12 in the back for starters. I read the Garmin forward scan is better in shallow water, Lowrance better in deep water. I’d guess they all cost about the same.

Looking for comments, Thanks Billy

Thanks, Billy

My preference would be 12" Garmin 8612 xvs on front with Livescope Plus and a Humminbird Apex 16 at the helm. I would have dedicated 125 amp Lithium batteries for each unit ran with 6 gauge wire.
