I have been working on a swim bait type fly and I have been doing good with it. Yesterday I landed over 20 bass with a fly rod. After a bunch of fish the fly looked a little ragged. roflmao If you want to change things up a fly rod can be really fun. grin

Every once in a while, I think about chasing them with a fly rod. Back when I used to do it, I loved throwing a popping bug.

We used to fly fish bass in Wisconsin on the rivers / creeks. They will flat out tear up a popper fly.

I have done amazing on bass w/my Tenkara style fly rod(no reel) w/a 1/200oz Trout Magnet Mini jig head and a 1” Berkley Gulp minnow. Not a fly fishing “purest” but it drives those fishing around me crazy when I catch some monster trout while they all cast their traditional nymphs…..and don’t catch em. Doing something completely different then the masses and twitching that little bait cross current and the trout will hammer it. “Reaction strike”. That’s kinda a tiny swimbait huh? Your shredded “fly” ought to kill em in the salt water. It looks like a shrimp! 😁

If I’m offshore and need a shrimp fly, I have found this one works ok. roflmao

Fly fishing is my preferred method. For me, it's challenging, rewarding, and the most fun.
