President Trump has, through the 2024 campaign and throughout his first 100 days in office, made restarting American production a priority. In one possible result of this emphasis and the president's actions to date, retail colossus Walmart has announced a new Buy American initiative, called "Grow with US".

I still remember all the "Made in USA" signs from the 80`s that Walmart had throughout their stores. Need to bring it back.

Sam Walton was a shrewd operator who tricked most that he was a great American.
His business plan was to start in rural towns and drive all of the competition, local business, out. He would advertise heavy in local newspapers then when he had no more area completion he would quit advertising which would cause small town newspapers to close shop. He would hire a ton of full time employees and as soon as he owned the majority of retail in the area make them part time.
Here are some of things Sam Walton said over the years.
Walmart will never force itself on a city that didn’t want them there. He was notorious for lobbying states to pass laws allowing him in. They still have the largest retail lobby in Washington and most states.
He would never be open on Sunday. Within 20 years every store was open on Sunday where legal.
He would never go into the grocery business. No explanation needed.
He would NEVER SELL BEER OR LIQUOR IN WALMART. Walmart is the largest beer and wine merchant in the US.

His buy American campaign lasted about 5 years then Walmart quietly moved virtually all of that manufacturing overseas causing everyone of those little plants he “supported” to close and all of the employees go jobless.
Walmart now buys 85% of its goods from overseas and is the largest retail goods importers from china.

Sam Walton did give to a lot of good causes but virtually all rich people do.
But his business plan was predatory and harmful to the communities he invaded.
