Anyone have an idea of where I might catch bait around Eisenhower State Park, we will be staying there for Memorial day weekend. Looking for perch/brim and shad, I know there is a boat ramp in the park and will start there. Just wondering if there is somewhere else to look where we might be successful. Thanks in advance and tight lines everyone !

You should be able to get bait by the marinas and boat houses. You can also try by the lighted fishing pier.

I have had very little luck catching bait with my net at Eisenhower. In the past I have just bought some worms and use them around the floating marina tires to catch my bait. Small hook, split shot and a bobber. If you insist on just using a net you can try by the boat ramp. I would also throw a net at the boat ramp by the dam or even below the dam. Worst case scenario you can pick up some fresh frozen or live bait at the gas stations located at the exit of 91 & 75. Either one at that intersection has bait.

You might try some cubed chicken breast placed inside a ziplock bag and add strawberry jello to it. It makes a good channel catfish bait.

The “beach” at Sherwood Shores (circled in red) may be good. I know it often holds ghost minnows. Is a sandy bottom and you can usually wade 100’ out. Just be sure to wear shoes. Lots of broken beer bottles. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/04/full-20037-268193-img_4085.jpeg)

These are pretty far drives so I don’t know if you’d be interested. You could also try the boat ramp at Walnut Creek or the area at Big Mineral. I used to see a lot of bait at both places. Important note on all these places…you are required to have a Lake License or Texas fishing license so when you buy your licenses, be sure to buy Texoma Lake licenses and NOT Oklahoma licenses. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/04/full-20037-268194-img_4088.jpeg)
